I am not a furniture guru. I don’t care about style or fashion. My only concern is whether a piece of furniture is comfortable or not. The softer and plushier the cushions, the better. Since those are pretty much my only (personal) guidelines, I’d say this glider from Naomi Home met them all.

This is definitely not the nicest glider/ottoman set, but it is comfortable. The furniture is covered in polyurethane foam that is cozier than it sounds, and the color of the glider is a nice, comforting espresso. The glider can hold a weight of up to 220 pounds so that it can support most any parent and their child.

Assembly of the glider is required, although the necessary tool is provided. You can pay for expert assembly, however, and I suspect there’s more than one parent who would rather do just that than being forced to endure the stress of furniture assembly amid the expectations of childbirth.

Under $200

Naomi Home Vara Multiposition Glider & Ottoman Set

Vara Multiposition Glider & Ottoman Set from Naomi Home looks extremely comfortable, and the looks won’t deceive you. The rocker is fully upholstered, with padded arms and an ottoman for extra comfort. 

The rocking motion is very smooth, working double-time to not only soothe your baby to sleep but to relax you as well. The seat is padded with thick cushions for your comfort. It can hold up to 220 pounds and it has a multi-purpose brake system to hold the chair in different positions.

There’s nothing extraordinary about this rocker, but it has a charming, attractive aesthetic, is comfortable and very reasonably priced. All of these things combine to make a glider that is well worth the price.

Graco Parker Semi-Upholstered Glider and Nursing Ottoman

This custom Tuscany Glider from Stork Craft is very much like the other Stork Craft glider. It has a variety of cushions and wood finishes to choose from, leaving you with dozens of ways to customize your very own nursery glider set.

This comfy, deeply cushioned glider has six fabric colors and four wood finishes to choose from for a total of two dozen different combinations. The polyester cushions are relaxing, and the wooden frame is augmented with wooden bearings for improved durability.

This is a pretty great piece of furniture. It’s easy to assemble, and it comes with a one-year warranty. It isn’t as comfortable as a couple of the other gliders, but it’s still a great choice and is fairly affordable. Recommended.

Under $250

Jiasting Recliner Chair with Ottoman

The Recliner Chair with Ottoman from Jiasting is an affordable glider rocker upholstered in faux leather that fits in any room of your house. It is easy to clean and has a sturdy metal frame.

The glider rocks easily enough and the ottoman is great for putting my feet up after a long day. The best thing about it is that it is extremely quiet. However, I have one serious reservation about this glider. 

There’s not enough lumbar support on the recliner and there’s too much padding around the shoulder area. Still, this is an extremely comfortable chair where you can rock your baby but also take a nap when you’re tired.

Stork Craft Tuscany Custom Glider/Ottoman

This glider/ottoman set from Stork Craft is the epitome of soft and comfortable. The microfiber cushions seem to swallow you whole when you sit down.

One of the nice things about these cushions is that they are easy to clean, as long as you act fast enough. I also really liked the ottoman, which has a pull-out stand to help it stay firm if you don’t want it to rock.I was amazed at how luxuriously comfortable this chair was.

It was a lot better than I was expecting for the price. If you’re looking for a comfortable chair and don’t have much to spend, I wholeheartedly recommend this model. If you can’t swing it financially, there are some very cozy gliders for less, but this is truly the best bang for your buck.

Under $350

Coaster Home Glider Rocker with Ottoman

The Rocker Chair with Ottoman from Coaster Home is the perfect addition to your nursery. The comfortable padding is covered in microfiber material and the sturdy metal frame ensures the longevity of the chair.

It supports up to 250 pounds and has thick comfortable cushioning. If you get bored while holding your baby, the seat has a magazine/book rack where you can keep your favorite books and magazines and take them out to read.

You can move the chair from the nursery to the living room once the baby grows since the timeless design makes it perfect to fit anywhere in the home.

It has a sturdy metal base that has 360-degree gliding motion and moves forward-backward so that you and your baby can relax. It has polyester fabric upholstery and comes with a lumbar pillow for additional back support.

The best thing about it is that it can support up to 300 pounds and the smooth and gentle movements can easily put your baby to sleep.

Baby Relax The Kelcie Nursery Swivel Glider Chair and Ottoman Set

There’s a pretty significant jump from the Stork Craft glider to the magnificent upholstery of Baby Relax. While it looks like a fairly standard living room armchair, it’s a very comfortable, plush glider with excellent swivel action and a luxurious matching ottoman.

The glider is thickly padded through and through, making it very cozy. The upholstery is made out of soft microfiber and is available in three relaxing colors. It features lumbar support but unfortunately does not recline.

Although the chair and ottoman combine to weigh almost 100 pounds, it’s a small price to pay for how soft and plush it is. Assembly isn’t difficult, and although this is a moderately expensive glider/ottoman set, it’s definitely worth it.

Under $600

Dutailier Colonial 0380 Glider Multiposition-Lock Recline with Ottoman

The Dutailier Colonial 0380 glider from Dutalier costs a lot more than I could afford, but it is an amazing chair. It’s very comfortable, and the quality is excellent, and it has a very stylish design.

The taupe upholstery is luxuriously soft and comfortable and is easy to melt into. The chair rocks very gently, and the all-wooden frame is well crafted and has a non-toxic finish.

This is a spectacular chair, but it is quite expensive and probably outside the budget of many parents. If you can afford to buy it, it’s worth it, but the quality isn’t so much better than some other glider/ottoman sets to justify stretching your budget to fit this.

Conclusion

Picking the right ottoman for your nursery is a complicated equation that requires you to juggle economy, function, aesthetics, décor and the wildly different tastes of you and your partner. The Graco-Parker ottoman is ridiculously plush and comfortable. It’s not the height of style, but it’s soft enough to make up for it.

Of course, I couldn’t fault you for going with the Dutailier Grande if you could afford it, and I like the many different color options for the Stork Craft models. No matter which gliding rocker you choose, I hope it is a perfect match for your nursery.
