Maybe you’re on a tight budget, or maybe you just really want a diaper bag with zero frills and a minimum of fuss. If simple is what you’re looking for, than I’ve got just the diaper bag for you. The Jewel Woods Planet Wise Diaper Bag is really simple – it’s really just one large 17 x 21 inch single-compartment bag. But it gets a lot of little things right.

First off, the design is simply adorable. The exterior of the bag is populated by a colorful woodland scene, with flowers, trees, squirrels, bunnies and foxes. The materials are also high quality. The outside of the bag is made with cotton, and the interior of the bag a waterproof fabric.

The bag is also treated with anti-microbial elements to fight off bacteria. And because the bag is cotton, it can be machine washed and dried.

There are a couple of downsides to a simplified design. There aren’t a lot of compartments for organizing, and there aren’t any bottle holders either. But the design is adorable and the price affordable, and that’s good enough for me.

Under $50

Ruvalino Diaper Bag Backpack

The Ruvalino Diaper Bag is one of the two bags here that are in fact backpacks. The design is simple, in a rectangular shape, with lightweight and thick waterproof fabric.

Padded shoulder straps add more comfort when you’re wearing it. You can wear it as a backpack, a handbag, or even attach it to the stroller. Versatility is what makes this a diaper bag to recommend. 

One of the things I like about this bag is that it isn’t overly cutesy or feminine, so most men shouldn’t feel uncomfortable using it. It has plenty of pockets, including two big compartments, 16 pockets, which includes a padded interior laptop pocket. The bag measures 11.81 x 7.87 x 16.54 inches, so it’s spacious without being cumbersome. 

There is no warranty to speak of, so if you aren’t thrilled with the way it looks or how much room it affords, there’s no way of getting your money back. The main problem with the bag is that the lining is cheaply made. That said, this is still a cute, practical diaper bag.

Under $75

Skip Hop Messenger Diaper Bag

The next diaper bag on our list isn’t nearly as cute, but it’s got a lot more going for it in terms of side compartments. The Skip Hop Messenger Diaper Bag offers a simple Charlie-Brown-T-shirt aesthetic, and provides plenty of room for your baby care needs.

Measuring 13 x 13.75 inches, the bag isn’t nearly as large as the Jewel Woods bag, but it’s a lot easier to organize. It has four exterior multipockets and seven interior compartments, so you can fit all the basics and keep important things separate for easier finding. The bag includes two elastic mesh holders that should fit water and baby bottles, but they aren’t insulated.

The strap is functional, but not overly comfortable. It’s one of the biggest ways where the low price really makes itself obvious. The bag is BPA- and Phthalate-free, and includes a cushioned changing bad. It’s neither the best-looking nor the best-made diaper bag, but it’s very good quality for the price.

Ju-Ju-Be Classic Collection: “Dancing Dahlias”

Ju-Ju-Be specializes in designer diaper bags, and their “Dancing Dahlias” is no exception. In fact, this bag is downright gorgeous. The bag is adorned with cute, colorful flowers and is sure to earn you plenty of compliments.

The bag itself is on the smaller side. Measuring 14 x 12 x 6.5, this bag isn’t going to be large enough for everybody, so if you’re looking for a spacious container you’re best looking elsewhere. But there are plenty of compartments and pockets, including three zippered pockets, four gusseted pockets and two insulated bottle holders.

The bag is made with 100% polyester, is machine washable and has been treated with teflon to render it resistent to germs and bacteria. It’s smaller size and higher price may not be for everybody, but if you’re looking for a fashionable diaper bag, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Bag Nation Diaper Bag Backpack

The Diaper Bag Backpack is not the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen. The top half looks great, but the lower half looks a little bulky. But this is a nice, large bag with plenty of space and even better, water-resistant twill polyester material.

It features upgraded padding on the back and shoulder straps. You can easily attach it to any stroller. What’s even better, the bag includes a sundry bag and a foldable changing pad, so you don’t have to worry where you’ll change your baby’s diapers.

The bag has plenty of space to store and organize, with 14 different pockets and compartments to square everything away. The company offers a limited lifetime warranty and you won’t have to worry about wears and tears. This isn’t the best-looking diaper bag by a mile, but it is large and is quite efficient.

Under $100

Skip Hop Greenwich Simply Chic Diaper Bag

I’d consider it highly unlikely that you’d ever convince your husband to wear this rose-colored diaper bag out in public, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. The Simply Chic Greenwich diaper bag looks more like a purse than a diaper bag, so this is a great way to avoid a fashion faux pas.

Measuring 13 x 9.25 x 18 inches, this bag is quite large, and with nine pockets offers all the space you need for diapers, breast pumps, baby wipes, baby powder, a changing pad and any other accessories you might need. It’s made with vegan leather and includes a cushioned changing pad for convenience.

The main problem I have with this bag is that it doesn’t have a strap of any kind. It just has a standard handle – and not a very good one, I might add. The bag itself looks and feels great, and it’s definitely stain- and spill-resilient. But without a strap, it might be hard to juggle the bag and a baby as well.

Sarah Wells Lizzy Breast Pump Bag

The Sarah Wells Lizzy breast pump bag is a gorgeous accessory. It is spacious has both long handles and a convenient shoulder strap and features an attractive design.

Although the bag is designed with portable breast pumps rather than diaper bags in mind, it is perfectly acceptable to use it for either purpose. The bag has several pockets and compartments for convenient storage, but the big draw here are the insulated breast milk pockets. These pockets can keep breast milk cool for up to six hours, making this an ideal bag for use at work.

Thanks to its refined, understated design, this bag isn’t going to attract any strange looks, and it’s comfortable to use as well. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have more compartments, but that doesn’t take away from the quality of this bag.

I talked about “The Heiress” diaper bag from Ju-Ju-Be briefly in the editor’s pick. Like the “Dancing Dahlias,” this is a gorgeous, refined designer diaper bag from a company that specializes in making attractive accessories.
